ONLINE ENGLISH COURSE

Welcome to fluency and proficiency: speak English with clarity and ease!

Many learners with pre-intermediate or intermediate English proficiency have passive knowledge and struggle with real-life communication. Hesitation, fear, and a lack of confidence in speaking English hold them back from expressing their ideas and engaging meaningfully in conversations. This barrier is frequently rooted in outdated learning methods that focus on rote memorization and disconnected drills, failing to provide the relevant, practical language skills needed for authentic interaction.

Are you one of those learners? Why do you feel your English is not good enough? Some of the reasons might be poor vocabulary, perceived pressure to be perfect, lack of practice in real contexts, and/or negative past experiences.

At ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK, I offer a revolutionary approach to mastering English that goes beyond traditional methods! At ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK the unique mechanism for delivering unparalleled results lies in our Integrated Skill-Based Approach (ISBA). This approach combines grammar and vocabulary learning with practical application, using authentic and contemporary sources that are not only relevant but also deeply engaging.

ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK

Master English with an Integrated skills-based approach

Through the Integrated Skill-Based Approach (ISBA) we immerse students in a diverse range of materials—including articles, podcasts, videos, and dialogues—that reflect the language as it is truly used today. This exposure to genuine content(authentic language) helps learners connect language learning with everyday contexts, making it easier to retain and apply new knowledge. By consistently integrating speaking, listening, reading, and writing into every lesson, we ensure that all skills are developed simultaneously, mirroring how language functions in real life.

Critical thinking is at the core of our methodology. We challenge students to go beyond surface-level understanding by analyzing and questioning the content they engage with, fostering a deeper comprehension of language intricacies and cultural contexts. Through thought-provoking discussions, problem-solving activities, and real-world scenarios, learners are encouraged to think independently, make informed decisions, and articulate their ideas clearly and persuasively.

Our approach does not just focus on language mechanics; it builds the cognitive skills necessary for effective communication, such as evaluating information, drawing connections, and synthesizing diverse perspectives. This holistic learning experience not only sharpens communication skills but also develops intercultural competence, critical thinking, and the confidence needed to navigate complex social and professional situations.

Importantly, we also integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into our lessons. By fostering empathy, self-awareness, and respectful collaboration, we help students grow not only as language learners but as globally-minded individuals—ready to communicate with clarity, confidence, and emotional intelligence in any cultural or professional setting.

Why 4Cs

or What makes this approach successful

Although I have taught students of all ages and with different backgrounds, it is my work with engineering students that most distinctly shaped my instruction style. When I first start the semester with newcomers, I usually pose two pivotal questions: Why did you pick this major? and What does an engineer do?

The first question often serves as a litmus test - from my students’ vague and somewhat insecure responses I learn that they are generally unready to speak confidently in English and that communication is not their favourite thing to do. They often lack general communication skills and reluctantly engage in public speaking, responding primarily because it is required by the teacher in class.

The second question often elicits a variety of perspectives and interpretations and sparks some interest among the students. When all the ideas they brainstorm are exhausted, I offer a simple definition: Engineers are people who like solving problems. Some of my students disagree, while others get confused and start questioning themselves (I notice those introspective faces!). Bottom line, I try to convince them, if you do not like solving problems and thinking out of the box, engineering is probably not the career you should be pursuing.

After a brief, heated discussion, we usually agree that not ALL engineers solve problems, as some apply their knowledge by ensuring that certain procedures are followed in their work. Yet, as we all witness in everyday life and in particular in business, things rarely go as expected. It’s vital that we are trained to tackle the issues as they arise - that’s how breakthroughs and advancements in science and technology are made. If you wish to stay ahead of your peers and be competitive in the job market, it takes much more than just following procedures. Right?

After repeating this exercise several times,I have come to realize that problem-solving is a skill that resonates across countless professions. Whether you're a doctor, a delivery driver, or a beautician, the ability to solve problems is universal. In the world we navigate today, merely applying existing knowledge isn’t enough; it’s the ability to think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate meaningfully, and innovate creatively that sets professionals apart. These are the 4Cs—Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Collaboration—that form the backbone of any successful career.

With this in mind, I developed ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK, an Integrated Skill-Based Approach (ISBA) that combines grammar and vocabulary learning with practical application, leveraging authentic and contemporary resources to immerse students in real-world content. This holistic approach not only enhances linguistic abilities but also cultivates the critical competencies needed for problem-solving across all fields.

Because, after all, the true mark of an expert—whether in language, engineering, or any other domain—is not merely to follow a well-trodden path, but to forge new ones when the old roads no longer suffice.

At ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK, we promise to empower you with the skills and confidence to use English not just as a language, but as a powerful tool for communication, connection, and personal growth. Our program will help you break free from textbook English and immerse you in the vibrant, authentic use of the language as it is spoken and understood in the real world. You will not only master grammar and vocabulary but also learn to express yourself with clarity, creativity, and cultural awareness.

By the end of this journey, you will be equipped to navigate conversations, small talk, presentations, and professional interactions with poise, and tackle challenges with the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Whether your goal is to excel in your studies, advance in your career, or simply communicate more effectively in English-speaking environments, our Integrated Skill-Based Approach will give you the tools to achieve it, so to speak.

The Power of Authentic Learning Resources

Language as a tool to think

Many years ago, when I was studying to become an ESL educator, we were introduced to the topic of what constitutes a BAD learning material. A drastic example was cited from a dated French course, featuring an illustrative dialogue that, when roughly translated to English, went something like this:

A: Does your sister gladly eat cheese?

B: Yes, my sister gladly eats cheese.

A: It’s good your sister gladly eats cheese.

etc.

This dialogue, while grammatically correct, is utterly disconnected from any realistic conversation you might encounter in real life. It is a perfect example of a contrived, artificial exchange that teaches nothing about authentic communication, failing to reflect how language is actually used in everyday situations. It offers no insight into natural dialogue, cultural peculiarities, or practical vocabulary that learners would need in real interactions. And who, for God’s sake, ask anybody about cheese preferences of their siblings?!

In our program, ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK, we reject such artificiality in favor of authentic language resources that mirror the complexities and vibrancy of real-world communication. We believe that learning English should be about engaging with materials that are relevant, meaningful, and reflective of how people actually speak, think, and connect with one another in various contexts. This approach not only makes learning more engaging but also equips you with the skills to navigate real conversations with confidence and ease.

In our program, ENGLISH, SO TO SPEAK, we believe that the best way to learn a language is through authentic, real-world materials that reflect the dynamic nature of communication.

Using authentic resources with learners of all ages, not only helps them acquire the language skills they need but also fosters their understanding of the world around them. Language is more than a tool for communication—it's a framework for thinking, problem-solving, and conceptualizing the world.

Our course leverages a rich variety of authentic materials, including:

· News Articles and Reports: You will engage with current events and learn to interpret real-world information, enhancing both language skills and global awareness.

· Podcasts and Interviews: You will develop listening skills and cultural understanding by tuning into real conversations, diverse perspectives, and contemporary issues.

· Film and TV Clips: You will understand contextual usage of language, slang, idioms, and cultural nuances through popular media that reflects everyday life.

· Literature and Short Stories: You will explore the beauty of the language through stories that spark imagination and introduce complex language structures in a natural context.

· Social Media and Online Content: You will get hands-on experience with the language as it’s used today, including trending topics, informal exchanges, and digital communication.

You won’t just learn language rules; you’ll develop the ability to form ideas, express thoughts, and connect with others in meaningful ways. Because at the end of the day, language helps us think—and thinking in English opens the door to endless possibilities.
